Abstract

Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning model that uses real problems so that students gain knowledge. To achieve optimization in the learning process, assistance from the teacher is also needed for students who have difficulty dealing with complex problems, namely in the form of scaffolding. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with Scaffolding on students' ability to understand concepts in sound wave material. This research was conducted at SMAN 10 Malang in the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year. The subjects of this study were students of class 11 MIPA 3 as the control group and students of grade 11 MIPA 4 as the experimental group. The results of the hypothesis test on the posttest data get a significance value of <0.05, which is equal to 0.017, meaning that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This indicates that the PBL learning model with scaffolding affects students' conceptual understanding of sound wave material
