Abstract

Complex compounds of between nickel and N,N’-dietilthiourea (detu) with mol ratio 1:4 were
successfully synthesized using direct synthesis and reflux methods. Ni-detu(DR) and Ni-detu(R) samples
which were obtained using direct synthesis and reflux methods melted at 159-161°C dan 114-116°C,
respectively. Analizing FTIR of both samples indicated υ(N-H) bonds in the range of 3233-3235 cm-1 , υ(CH) 2964-2974 cm-1, υ(C-N) 1562-1579 cm-1 , υ(C=S) 646-653 cm-1. Refinement of Ni-detu(DR)samples using
generated XRD of reported CIF files gave Rwp of 11.63% proposed that the formula is [Ni(detu)4]Cl2. The
VSM measurements concluded that both samples were diamagnetic complexes.
