Efektivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Etanol Daun Melinjo (Gnetum Gnemon L.) Terhadap Bakteri Escherichia Coli

Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) is one of the plants which leaves can be used as antibacterial of the issue
diarrhea problem because melinjo leaves contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. One of
the caused diarrhea is bacterium Escherichia coli. The purpose of this study was to determine the
activity and effectiveness of the antibacterial ethanol extract of melinjo leaves against Escherichia coli
bacteria. This study included the type of experimental research was conducted in the Mikrobiology
laboratory and Farmakognosi laboratory at Academy of Pharmacy of Putra Indonesia Malang. This
research used diffusion method of wells with concentrations of 10% w/v, 20% w/v, 30% w/v, 40% w/v,
50% w/v, 60% w/v, 70% w/v, 80% w/v, 90% w/v, and 100% w/v. Result of the study showed that ethanol
extract of melinjo leaves can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Effective concentration of
antibacterial against Escherichia coli was 90% w/v. The conclusion of this study of melinjo leaves of
ethanol extract has activity and effectiveness antibacterial to bacterium Escherichia coli
