Abstract

Candida albicans is a fungus that commonly cause infections in humans where around 70% of the fungal infections caused by Candida albicans. The purpose of this research was to know the activity of the methanol extracts of antifungi cashew bark (Anacardium occidentale L.) againts Candida albicans with agar well difussion method. This research includes experimental research conducted in the Microbology laboratory at Academy of Pharmacy Putra Indonesia Malang. Results of the study showed extracts of bark cashew nuts with a concentration of 50%, 75%, and 100% can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans with the drag of zone 25,997 mm, 28,334 mm, and 29,995 mm. From this research it can be concluded that the extract of bark cashew nuts have antifungi activity against Candida albicans. Further research is needed to find out the effectiveness of the methanol extract of bark of cashew nuts in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans starts from the lowest concentration.
